Welcome to the STA'89
web site, our
little pocket of nostalgia on the 'net.
*last updated september 20, 1999* Well, it's official. STA'89 Reunion Part Deux is happening Monday, September 27, 1999. From the mailing list notice: "What: Who: Where: When: Why: So, if you're available, please e-mail me at tristan@webspotter.com or call me at (604) 983-9425. Please let me know if there's any "off-line" folks (i.e., no e-mail) that you'd like to call, we'll coordinate that, and I can call the rest. Hope to hear from you soon!" Somewhat unrelated, here's another cool thing I found:
From the North Shore News, September 13, 1999: "First
class STUDENTS at St. Thomas Aquinas secondary school got a warm welcome on Tuesday morning with balloons and a sign as they headed back to school for the first day of classes."
may 29, 1999 Well, our 10 year reunion has come and gone, and I think it was a successful affair, albeit a bit more intimate that we had hoped. :-) Many thanks to everyone who had a part in organizing the event, especially Christina and Katherine, who spent many hours hunting people down and organizing the events. Thank you Sarah, Francois (wish you could've been there!), and Chris for helping to get the ball rolling. Thanks also to all the alumni and staff who made it out to our reunion dinner on May 22 at the Hart House restaurant in Burnaby, and/or the potluck picnic the next afternoon. We ended up moving the picnic from the school up to Mahon Park, since it was such a nice day out! We posted signs on the school doors, so we hope everyone got the message! We were lucky enough to see Katherine and her friend Mark; Pam D. and her boyfriend Amante; Sarah; Arnel; Ciara and her boyfriend (sorry, Ciara, his name escapes me at the moment--please e-mail me and let me know!); Christina and her husband Frank; Kelly, her husband Dale, and their 14-month-old daughter Shelby; and Chris, his girlfriend Danielle, and his sister Claudia (who, like Chris, is also an RCMP officer--way to go, Claudia!). Oh yeah, yours truly and his wife Stephanie showed up, too, along with his little sisters Stephanie (11--born when we were in Grade 11!) and Alexandra (8). We also got to see Father Swinkels; Mrs. Anderson and her husband Max; Mr. Nation, his wife, and their daughter; and Mr. Campbell. You can see some photos of the festivities here. See also the what's new page for a list of other updated pages. Anyhow, it was really great seeing all who were able to make it. There were some folks I'd kept in touch with over the years, and other I hadn't seen since grad! It's amazing how even though everyone's different in some ways, I think we haven't really changed all that much. It was so neat being able to virtually pick up where we left off. Obviously, not everyone was able to make it. At Saturday's dinner Christina read to us a very nice letter that she received from Clare's mom, which you can read here. Apparently, Francois will be visiting Vancouver late in September, so we hope to have an informal get-together around then sometime, especially since he's been a real catalyst for group get-togethers over the years. Hopefully then we'll be able to see some of those who couldn't make it to the reunion. We'll get the word out when things become a bit more concrete. Stay tuned! By the way, if I've gotten any details wrong, or if there's a missed name you can help me with, or if you have any reunion or any other photos or paraphernalia to contribute, please e-mail Tristan at tristan@webspotter.com>. I'll soon be adding some great photos from Katherine and Pam D. I'll send a message out on the mailing list when they're up. Thanks, and keep'em coming!

may 15, 1999 This site will be perpetually under construction, while we prepare for our 10 year reunion, and whatever comes after that. There's a few more things I'll be adding in over the next couple of weeks, so be sure to join the mailing list (if you haven't done so already), and we'll let you know of any additions. It's not perfect but any stretch of the imagination, but there's lots to look at, so I hope you glean some enjoyment from it. If you have any photos (especially from Grade 9--Brandi Wilson still has my yearbook!) or paraphernalia to add, or have any comments or suggestions for this site please e-mail me at tristan@webspotter.com. Thanks!

p.s. I've noticed that this site looks a little funny on Netscape 4.08 for Macintosh, and possibly other browsers as well. Please let me know how it looks on your system, and be sure to let me know which browser and type of computer (i.e., PC or Mac) you're using.
